A Royal Welcome; Bolton, Lowther Castle

Greetings from England!

If there’s one thing that England has a plethora of, it’s castles. Today I had the pleasure of seeing two of them…Lowther Castle and Bolton Castle.

The Lowther castle and Gardens is a Reclamation project that began in 2011 and is still ongoing. Though the castle won’t be put back together in the sense of being “whole”, there are plans to reconstruct the ruins to make it safe and accessible for the public. It will be interesting to see the development of this site in the future!

Bolton castle is a half-ruin, half-reconstructed castle. The rooms that Mary, Queen of Scots lived in during her stay have been reconstructed, while the remainder of the castle has been left in its original “shell” state.

Both are incredible sites, and I can’t wait to see more like them!
