Anne Hathaway was Shakespeare’s beloved wife. (Perhaps you’ve heard of him leaving her his “second-best-bed” to her in his will--a more romantic gesture than it might seem). In Anne’s day, the gardens outside of her cottage would have been a working farmyard with vegetable gardens, a chicken coop and perhaps a goat or pig or two. Today, however, the gardens have been lovingly reworked to represent the romance between William and Anne. They were so lovely that I decided an entire post should be dedicated to Anne’s gardens…up close!
