Brachete is the process of making Flax into usable fiber to weave into cloth. A very traditional Swiss occupation, the Brachete celebration that occurs in the town of Zaziwil is certainly a step back into time! Farmers and enthusiasts alike come together to show their talent for this traditional and ancient craft—plus show off some of their beautiful handiwork up for sale! I had also had the opportunity to hear some traditional music, watch traditional dancing and games, and enjoy some beautiful traditional Swiss costuming. A truly great day spent in Zaziwil!
