What an amazing experience I had at Rhine Falls!
Besides being one of Switzerland’s many natural wonders, Rhine Falls has been important as both a social and economic landmark. It is historically one of the world’s first “tourist traps”, capitalizing on the epic wonder of rushing water to excite and awe. The castle on Rhinefall is over 1,000 years old, and a small museum beautifully captures its impressive history with creative (and surprising!) displays.
There is plenty to be said of Rhinefall itself, as the natural wonder has lost none of its untamed beauty in the years that city grew up around it. The sound of rushing water, the spray on your face and the unparalleled strength of the waterfall leaves you feeling both inspired and fearful. Indeed, it is easy to see why Rhine Falls is one of the most photographed, painted and printed-about natural landmark in distant history.
For someone who has grown up around and loves water, this was a wonderful place to get my fix!
